Who Was Nargis ?

If we look at the history of Bollywood, then it becomes clear that there was no shortage of talent in the Hindi film industry right from the beginning of films. Many such artists with unmatched acting ability have made their special place in the heart of Bollywood fans. Despite the advent of new technologies and modern facilities, there are many such artists of the past, whose serious and wonderful acting is still exemplified today. One such actress was Nargis, whose beauty as well as seriousness was taken away by the audience in her heart.

Nargis`s Birth

Born on 1 June 1929 in Calcutta, India under British, Nargis's real name was Fatima Rashid. Nargis's mother Jaddanbai was a classical music singer and prostitute from Allahabad. Nargis`s was able to enter films only with the help of her mother. Nargis's father Uttamchand Mohandas was an eminent doctor.

Nargis's arrival in Hindi film industry

Nargis started her film journey at a very young age. In the year 1935, he acted in a film called Thalak Haq. After this film, he started getting recognized by the name of Baby Nargis. After the first film, Nargiss had a line of films. During the period of 1940-50, Nargis`s acted in many big Hindi films, including Barsaat, Andaaz, Awara, Didar, Shree 420 and Chori-Chori. In her film career, Nargis mostly worked with Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar.

After marrying Sunil Dutt in the year 1958, Nargis`s ended her film journey and devoted all her time to the family. Sunil Dutt and Nargis have three children (actors Sanjay Dutt, MP Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt).

Nargis died

She went into a coma due to her long-term struggles with a serious disease like cancer. Nargis`s died on 2 May 1981 in Mumbai.

Along with acting, Nargis also fulfilled her social obligations. Nargis, along with her husband Sunil Dutt, formed the Ajanta Arts Culture Troop which used to do its shows to entertain Indian soldiers. Nargis`s also worked for mentally challenged children.
